“The incisive reflections of a veritable savant, the timeless map to the lay of our land, the worldly musings of a super-poly-urbanite, the bass voice of this generation in all its frothy, privileged texture.”

– Darren Mykowskii, The Village Press

“I don’t get it.”

– My mom

“A writer who suffers from delusions of mediocrity.”

– Some doctor

“Who knows? Maybe I missed something. I’m not good with these things.”

– My mom, again

Welcome to All Up On That!

This is a blog that keeps me writing. Specifically, this is a blog that keeps me writing new things outside of my grown-up stuff. When my cup runneth over, in other words, I pour one out (for the homies) on All Up On That.

The site is organized into these (sorta logical) sections:

Observationswhich contains my personal commentary (as opposed to that of my characters) on anything from the news to trends to five awesome marketing techniques no one is using.

Other Voices*, which includes the posts and short stories I write as various characters who are not me, such as Apathetic Mattress Guy and Mr. Bosch.

Letters, which includes my correspondences with various (often unsuspecting) entities or persons, such as my accountant on the occasion of tax day.

Sounds, which covers podcasts and other recordings.

Visiting Dignitaries, which features posts from friends of All Up On That.

Announcementswhich covers general happenings, news about me and/or the blog, and so on.

On the Road, which covers stuff I write while traveling, usually to strange places.

The Cutting Room Floor, which conveniently categorizes anything that falls outside of the above categories. (This is super un-MECE of me, but one must allow for extenuating circumstances.)

* I have not figured out how to categorize posts that are observations of my own, articulated (refracted, exaggerated, manipulated…) through a character. I suppose we could call this “fiction” and be done with it, but you understand the dilemma. Anyway, if you have a solution, get at me.

Welcome to All Up On That. I trust you’ll find it aptly named.
